WARDJet Helps the University of Akron 'Zips Aero' Team Soar
WARDJet shares close ties with the University of Akron, particularly in the Engineering Department where a number of alumni and UA interns work to design high quality waterjet cutting systems.
This past winter, WARDJet had the opportunity to assist the University of Akron Aero Design team by cutting the landing gear for a remote controlled plane to be used during competition. The competitions, sponsored by Lockheed Martin, are held a few times a year, and each entry is scored on payload efficiency.
In the April 2014 SAE Aero Design East competition, UA finished first overall in the advanced class and second place overall in the regular class. A representative from the team stopped by WARDJet recently to present a plaque for our contribution to their success. Great job, Zips Aero Team!
